At FLT we believe that everyone deserves to feel comfortable and supported when getting a tattoo and that accessibility is a fundamental right.

For People with Mobility Limitations

​FLT Tattoo Studio is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible environment for all clients. We understand that individuals with mobility limitations may have specific needs, and we strive to accommodate them to the best of our ability.

Studio Access:

  • Ground Floor Location: The studio is located on the ground floor, eliminating the need for stairs. The floors are level throughout.

  • Ramp Access: There is a ramp with a small incline at the entrance to accommodate wheelchair users and those with mobility aids.

  • Entrance Width: The entrance doors are 1900 mm wide with both doors open, and 950 mm wide with one door open to allow sufficient space for wheelchair access.

  • Parking: We offer designated parking spaces close to the studio entrance for clients with mobility impairments. Please let us know in advance if you require parking. You can be dropped off right in front of the door if needed.

  • Bathroom Accessibility: Our client bathroom is accessible, with [details of bathroom dimensions, grab rails, etc. coming soon].

Tattoo Equipment and Procedures:

  • Adjustable Tattoo Beds: Our tattoo beds are adjustable to accommodate different heights and positions, ensuring comfort for all clients. They have a recommended weight limit of 180kg and are extremely sturdy. The beds are approximately 700 mm wide and 1900 mm long.

  • Assistive Equipment: We provide step stools to assist in mounting the bed and chairs as alternatives to the bed, accommodating various needs and preferences.

  • Comfort and Support: We offer a range of cushions and supports to enhance comfort during the tattoo process.

Accessibility for Neurodiverse Clients

FLT Tattoo Studio recognises the unique needs of neurodiverse individuals and strives to create a welcoming and supportive environment. We understand that sensory sensitivities and communication preferences vary among individuals, and we are committed to accommodating these needs to the best of our ability.

Sensory Considerations:

  • Noise Levels: While our studio is open-plan, we are mindful of noise levels and can provide earplugs or clients can bring headphones to help reduce auditory stimulation.

  • Lighting: The cool daylight LED ceiling lighting and lamps in the studio can be bright to allow our artists to do their work, but clients can bring sunglasses or other visual aides to reduce overstimulation. We can also provide dark sunglasses.

  • Visual Distractions: We can provide screens to minimize visual distractions upon request.

Communication and Support:

  • Structured Communication: We prefer communication via email in order to keep track of important booking information, but to accommodate different preferences we can organise in-person consultations.

  • Appointment Flexibility: We can work with clients to schedule appointments at quieter times of the day if preferred (within the artists own schedule)

  • Individualised Support: Our artists are trained to be patient and understanding of individual needs, and we encourage open communication to ensure a positive experience.

Additional Considerations

  • Sensory Tools: Clients are welcome to bring their own sensory tools or comfort items to their appointment.

  • Support Persons: We allow one support person to accompany the client during the appointment if needed.

Getting Here

FLT Tattoo Studio is located at the back of the building complex housing Doors Plus, Escape Zone, Onwards Gallery, Woodriver Studios and Dressed For Success in Broadmeadow.

 

To find us, turn into the driveway off Belford Street that leads to Doors Plus. Our entrance is at the rear of the building complex, accessible via the on-site carpark.

Parking:

  • On-site parking is available to clients, however, it is limited and shared with the other businesses in the building. Those with mobility limitation will be given priority.

  • The distance from the Belford St footpath to FLT's entrance in the carpark is approximately (distance available soon), the driveway is relatively even.

  • Street parking is available nearby on Belford St, Torpey Place and Tudor St.

  • Parking can also be found nearby at Gregson Park (approx. 500 m - 600 m) and The Commuter Car Park at Broadmeadow Train Station (approx. 400 m)

Public Transport:

  • Train: Broadmeadow Station is approximately 450 m distance from the studio. Click here for information about this station

  • Bus: There is a bus stop at the front of the building near Doors Plus and Dress for Success, the Belford St and Torpey Pl stop. Click here for information on the routes traveling to and from this stop.
